While I love the idea of the Steam deck, Valve's history and their handling of things like the Steam machine, steam link and others give me pause. Besides, that the order numbers are already showing a huge delay in shipping, they are using the AMD APU, which has the same shortage issues as any chips in the current environment and covid.
It feels like a recipe for getting another piece of cool tech that either doesn't get bought up quickly enough to set off whatever Valve's number pressure needs to keep support going, or getting your hands on it just won't even be possible for most.
Index is their one good seller and is a proof that they can support something.
